A widower moves with his teenage daughter to a derelict mansion in a Muslim-majority suburb of Bangkok after his wife’s death. Ignoring local warnings, he removes protective talismans from the house, inadvertently unleashing a furious djinn and a 200-year-old curse. As supernatural events escalate, his daughter embarks on a journey to Thailand’s deep south to seek help from a Muslim doctor to save her father and confront the malevolent forces they’ve awakened.
About the Director
Panu Aree is a Thai filmmaker renowned for his works that explore Muslim identity in Thailand. Panu has directed several documentaries, including ONCE UPON A TIME (2000), PARALLEL (2002), THE CONVERT (2008) and BABY ARABIA (2010), many of which have been showcased at international film festivals such as the Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival and the Hong Kong International Film Festival.
