At 15, Gioia, a black teenager, lives a boring life at school. After class, she fully enjoys her passion: Afro dance. When she shares this hobby with Amandine, a popular student, their two worlds collide.
About the Director
As a young man, Nixon Singa played football at a high level but had to stop due to an injury. In 2017, he directed À CHACUN SA PEINE, his first self-produced short film, about three characters from different social classes bound by a tragic event. In 2021, he graduated from La Résidence de La Fémis with his short film ESPOIR, about depression among young athletes. GIOIA, produced by Caïmans Productions, explores complex themes such as cultural appropriation and self-emancipation in the world of Afro dance.
